This update should be applied to the November 2001 Release only.  If you have a previous version installed, please download the full release file instead of the update.

Installation Instructions

  1. Download the update file Update-1101-A.exe and save it to your local system.
  2. Exit from AirplanePDQ if you have it running.
  3. Once the download is complete, double click on the Update-1101-A.exe file icon.
  4. A window will appear titled "AirplanePDQ November 2001 - A Release Update". Check the folder name in the box "Extract to:" to make sure that it is the same folder name where you initially installed AirplanePDQ and correct it if necessary.
  5. Click on the button labeled "Extract".
  6. The installation is complete and you can run AirplanePDQ normally with the new updates.

New Features in Release

Added engine templates for Jabiru engines
Added support for new X-Plane 6.16 file format
Added support for saving view parameters when switching between views
Added aircraft length and height to the design summary report
Automatically set drawing limits to extend beyond the edges of the aircraft

Issues Fixed in Release

Made trim algorithm more robust to better handle trim calculations at low speeds around stall
Corrected pitching moment calculation for control surfaces
Modified fuselage pitching moment estimation algorithm
Significantly improved import and export of X-Plane files
Corrected handling of large dihedral angles (>135 deg)
Corrected handling of nacelle editing
Corrected range calculation which used default prop efficiency instead of calculated prop efficiency
Corrected handling of seat positions so seat positions are not reset after reloading a drawing
Fixed problem with changing taper ratio in the side view
Fixed issue with licensing code for time zones far from GMT
Fixed accumulation of multiple CG indicators and CG limits boxes
Fixed nacelle geometry export problem with X-Plane v5 format
Fixed typo in design check report--If vertical stab was too large, report said to increase size instead of decrease size
Fixed run-time errors at large subsonic speeds
Corrected handling of control surface editing if control is moved beyond limits of wing
Restricted engine pitch to +- 30 deg to avoid inaccuracies at large pitch angles
Corrected handling of stabilators in CG limits check.  With a stabilitor, the software now deflects stabilator at alpha clmax for the stabilator instead of just the default maximum elevator deflection angle
Corrected tooltips for checkboxes on several worksheet
Corrected handling of international settings (e.g. "." vs "," for decimal sep) in file saving.  Now uses US settings regardless of locale settings and thus files can be transferred between users in different countries
Now drawing ground line for both tricycle gear and taildragger designs
Changed thrust moment calculations to use the propeller reference position instead of the engine reference position
Corrected vertical tail volume coefficient for dihedral
Corrected handling of vertical tails with dihedral
Corrected calculation of wetted area for twin tails
Corrected minus sign on tail volume coefficients for canards
Fixed run time error that occurred if prop tip speed exceeded sonic velocity
